Open houses can be a good opportunity for potential buyers and agents to see the inside of your home. Some tips to help you prepare your home include:
1. Clear away all small items such as jewelry, money such as coins or coin collections, and any items of value, including your check books, credit cards, prescriptions, etc.
2. Put away your mail and other important documents, especially family heirlooms.
3. Open up the curtains, blinds and any window coverings, leave lights on.
4. Soft-scented candles, mild-scented plug-ins or potpourri appeals to the buyer’s sense of smell.
5. Soothing music also helps set the stage. Leave soft or classical music playing.
6. The most important areas are kitchens and bathrooms. Check to make sure these rooms really sparkle and remove any extra clutter on countertops.
