Missoula, MT - One of the Best Fly Fishing Towns in America!

This will come as no surprise to many of the local fly fishermen, but Missoula was recently named one of the best fly fishing towns in America by Field & Stream.

According to the article, "Any serious connoisseur of flyfishing and Norman Maclean's novella A River Runs Through It understands that the Missoula and the surrounding area was the inspiration behind the modern flyfishing movement. The allure, of course, starts with the big, wild, and majestic rivers here: the Clark Fork which runs through town, the Bitterroot, the Big Blackfoot, and Rock Creek are all a short drive away. This classy community is home to the University of Montana and a regional headquarters for the U.S. Forest Service, as well as a budding group of retail and specialty businesses all focused on the great outdoors. Aside from fishing, the hunting, hiking, mountain biking, and skiing options to be found here are all world-class. The climate is much milder and more comfortable than one might expect. If you're one of those who actually lives the outdoor lifestyle, as opposed to talking about it, you owe yourself at least a visit to Missoula. Odds are, you'll hear an inner voice prodding you to turn that visit into something more."
Views Worth Hiking For - The Vista Trail in Superior
clark fork riverThe snow is almost gone in beautiful Western Montana and hiking season is just around the corner! As a warm-up we decided to hike the Superior Vista Trail this evening. This trail was just formalized in the last year or two and leads up a mountain on the North side of the town of Superior. It is moderate to difficult in terrain with the first 1000 feet at 10% grade and the remaining hike at 15-20% grade.

The trail is marked with several signs with photos of Superior, the county seat for Mineral County, in the early 1900's and the historical sites that can be seen from the trail.

Once your high enough on the trail, there are spectactular views in every direction of the Clark Fork River that runs through the town of Superior from East to West, and the Lolo National Forest.

Mineral County, Montana is ideal for outdoor recreation. In the county, there are 87 miles of river, 650 miles of streams, and over 50 high mountain lakes. In addition, there are over 400 miles of hiking trails and more than 1,000 miles of off-highway roads. 87% of land in the county is either forest service or state owned so private land is at a premium. In September of last year, Mineral County land was the most viewed and searched in the country on the popular website Landwatch.com.

The county is quickly becoming a vacation destination and a place for second homes. If you would like to learn more about Mineral County, the local real estate market, or some great hiking trails, contact Kevin & Monica Ray at Streamside Realty at 406-207-1185 or visit us online at www.YourMT.com.
